Dear Diary

Hi guys,

You learn something everyday. Keep your eyes and ears open and there will be a revelation soon. I live by those principals. Ahem! A writer is always ready.

Today as always I was travelling in the Mumbai local. Central line to be specific, when I noticed some nice looking girls travelling in the compartment. Now, that should not be a surprise by any standards, but change those standards to rush hour standards of Mumbai and you will understand why I was surprised.

These girls were not together and were sitting in different places of the compartment. The first thing I learnt was that the female working population was overflowing and the girls were more comfortable in the general compartment than the ‘reserved for women’ ones. I remember females were never comfortable in the general compartment, thanks to our North Indian brothers, not to mention there hardly used to be any space to step in. Today I saw girls lining up to get into the general compartment and avoiding the women’s compartment. Maybe their choices at being shoved and pushed and squeezed have changed. If it has to be done, might as well have the other gender do it. Just a thought!

The metro too had a two lines of female passengers and only one line of the same length of male passengers. It will not be long when only the odd jobs will be left for men to do in commercial spaces. Start learning domestic chores guys!!

One other thing I learnt is that men prefer playing games on their smartphones. They always did honestly. Only now they have better Graphics. Females on the other hand love chatting or catching up on their facebookand whatsapp. Which leads to my point and that is, you can find out so much just by peeping over some one’s shoulder and into their smart phones. Apologies to one and all. I am sure everyone does it, but turning up noses at something like this is also important. However, the ones who look at other people furiously checking their facebook pages may not notice, that you learn so much about the person. Their likes and dislikes and maybe some other details not usually shared openly.

So travel safe people and yes, please keep your smart phones away from prying eyes.
